Looking to close your account? Here are some important things to note.
If you'd like to close your CollBox account entirely, please reach out directly to email@example.com.
One thing to share is that your CollBox account is totally free and we do send monthly reports to help you keep track of your accounts to help prevent any from going past due. If you’d like to continue getting those reports, no action is required.
If you'd to go ahead with closing your account and you have any active placements (those in the Collecting section of your dashboard), check out the notes below:
Active Collect Placements
If you have pending accounts with our Collect service you must request cancelation from the agency working the placement, or wait until it's resolved. This Help Center article on how cancelation works in debt collection.
In general, you cannot cancel a placement during the collection period without paying the fees the collection agency would be due on a successful collection—unless the agency chooses to allow it.
It is entirely up to the agency whether or not they approve the cancelation. If they do approve your cancellation request, you may still be responsible for paying the fees the collection agency would be due on a successful collection.
Tip: Use the built-in Message Servicer feature on the platform to contact the agency.
Active Assist Placements
If you have pending accounts with our Assist service you have the option to cancel a placement at any time. Check out this Help Center article on how to do so.
Please note: Canceling a placement in Assist does not restore a credit to your account. If you submit an account in error, please cancel the placement and reach out directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
